Great quality, excellent picture, simple to use:This splitter is one of the nicer quality splitters I've owned - the outer metal materials work great as passive heat sinks to keep the device from overheating even after extended use, and protect well against bumps or falls. The unit is very compact and easy to physically set up, allowing you to keep the product on a desk or TV stand, even if there's limited space. The picture quality this product provides is excellent, with no noticeable difference between the outputs and no quality drop off when compared to a direct connection. The product is very simple to use and relatively intuitive, even without consulting the directions.Overall, this is a good product and I would recommend.

When used with only 8k displays, this HDMI splitter works as expected, passing through 8k video with HDR, full chroma 4:4:4, Dolby audio, etc. Unfortunately, when one of the attached displays is a lower resolution, e.g., 4k, the signal sent to the 8k display uses YCbCr420, so chroma is reduced to 4:2:0.With chroma 4:2:0, the luminance information remains 8k, but the colour information is reduced to 4k. The difference isn’t noticeable with video, which is usually encoded in 4:2:0 to save space/bandwidth. With text or other detailed output, however, the quality is severely degraded by reducing colour information to 4k. The problem is especially bad when subpixel rendering is used for text, as it is by default on Windows PCs.Given that the splitter supports 8k@60 Hz SDR/HDR with chroma 4:4:4, the downscaling problem appears to be a result of the EDID sent by the device to the source, as opposed to an HDMI hardware limitation. For that reason, it may be possible to fix it with a firmware upgrade.Overall, I can generally recommend this splitter for 8k HDMI splitting of video, or of anything if downscaling won’t be required. If an 8k signal will be split between an 8k display and a 4k or 2k display, and the output needs chroma 4:4:4, e.g., for a PC or Mac, then I can’t recommend this device.
