FireWire® Leader SIIG Ships FireWire CardBus Dual

(Fremont, California; April 17, 2000) SIIG, Inc., a leading manufacturer of I/O and controller boards, is now shipping its latest I/O product, the FireWire CardBus Dual. This aggressively priced (estimated street price of $99 ) product is designed for use with the latest in DV video camcorders, utilizing FireWire® technology (also known as 1394 oi.LinkTM), allowing users to capture footage from their DV camcorders to their notebook computers.

User Friendly
Just as the successful 1394 DV-Cam Kit, SIIG's FireWire CardBus Dual comes with all the consumer needs to start transforming their videos into professional looking footage, including a dual-port cardbus pc card (type II), Ulead's award-winning VideoStudio video editing software, and DV cable. The software's friendly user interface guides you step-by-step as you capture clips, arrange them into a story, add Hollywood-style transitions, animate unlimited titles on-screen, and add your favorite music to the soundtrack, while preserving the original video quality.

Increased Speeds
The FireWire CardBus Dual also offers customers the ability to connect up to 63 IEEE-1394 devices connected in a chain through its ports. The IEEE-1394 ports operate at speeds of up to 400 megabits/second (50 megabytes/second), and much like USB are hot-swappable(allowing devices to be connected/disconnected without powering down the system). IEEE-1394 devices currently include DV camcorders, digital still cameras, disk drives, and are expected to include removable storage devices, scanners, printers, and a wide variety of Audio/Video products.

Future SIIG FireWire Products
Much like the I/O and controller market, SIIG is positioning itself to become the market leader in IEEE-1394 products. Future plans include a combo USB/FireWire card (including 2 external USB ports, and 2 external/1internal FireWire ports), 1394 IDE kits (converts traditional internal IDE interface drives into a FireWire® drive), and much more.
