SIIG, Inc. Launches New Line of UltraATA 133 Controllers
(Fremont, California; November 23, 2001) SIIG, Inc. is now shipping its latest line of state of the art hard disk drives controllers. New UltraATA/133 hard drives offering 133 MB/Sec data transfer have started shipping within the last couple of months, but current motherboards do not have the on-board controllers to support such high data transfer rates. The only way to get the maximum performance from an UltraATA/133 hard disk drive is by upgrading the system with one of SIIG's line of Ultra ATA/133 PCI controllers. All of SIIG's new UltraATA 133 controllers, available for both the PC and Mac markets, are PCI-bus, dual channel UltraATA/133 controllers with 40-pin/80-wire UltraATA/100 cable included (two cables are included with RAID versions). The models for the PC include the UltraATA 133 PCI (SIIG part # SC-PE4B12, MSRP $49.99) and the UltraATA 133 RAID (SIIG part # SC-RE4B12, MSRP $69.99), offering RAID 0 (striping), RAID 1 (mirroring), and RAID 0+1 (mirroring+ striping). The Mac versions include the UltraATA 133/100 Pro (SIIG part # SC-MP4A12, MSRP $99.99) and the UltraATA 133/100 RAID (SIIG part # SC-MR4A12, MSRP $169.99).
Improved Performance & Capacity
SIIG's UltraATA/133 controllers increase the data transfer rates up to 33 percent when compared to UltraATA/100 controllers and breaks the previous 137GB barrier. They also improve sequential data transfer, and heighten data integrity to the EIDE interface through use of a 40-pin, 80-conductor cable. The CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) error detection code provides data verification and achieves flawless data transfer, while the bus-mastering feature reduces I/O processing load on the CPU to enhance the system performance. With support for as many as 4 IDE/ATAPI devices and IDE drives up to and beyond 137GB in capacity, the UltraATA/133 PCI will enable maximum disk performance with the Ultra ATA/133 hard disk drives.
Compatibility
SIIG's Ultra ATA/133 controllers will extend existing technology by offering 100% backward compatibility on Ultra ATA/33, UltraATA/66, UltraATA/100,EIDE/Fast ATA-2, IDE, and ATAPI devices. It is fully Ultra ATA/133 drivescompatible. It conforms to PCI v2.2/v2.1 Plug-n-Play specification.
As Dolly Chao, SIIG's Director of Sales and Marketing, states, "As one of the first manufacturers to ship the Ultra ATA/133 controller solution, SIIG is reinforcing its commitment to bring next-generation technology to the market. At the same time, the backward compatibility of this product supports our commitment to the market's installed base of older systems. And in spite of their aggressively positioned starting SRP of $49.99, the Ultra ATA/133 line of controllers offer the same world-class quality that people have come to rely on in all of our products, all backed by an industry leading five-year warranty."
