Solution:

The USB to ExpressCard supports USB interface based ExpressCard devices only. SATA and Firewire ExpressCard devices are PCI Express (PCIe) interface based ExpressCard devices. Unfortunately, the USB to ExpressCard will not work with PCIe interface based ExpressCard devices.
